This copy listed on Biblio by William Reese Company – Americana (as of the time of publication).

The news of the discovery of book fragments on the Queen Anne’s Revenge – the flagship of the infamous Captain Blackbeard – has been making the rounds. The bits of pages were discovered in a sludge on the sunken ship and have been analyzed by experts. Everyone wants to know: “What did pirates read”

After conservation efforts and studies of the fragments with legible writing, they determined that the pages were from A Voyage to the South Sea, and Round the World, Perform’d in the Years 1708, 1709, 1710 and 1711, an account of a Pacific journey written by Captain Edward Cooke.

This book was popular at the time, particularly notable for its account of finding the castaway Alexander Selkirk, the man who became the inspiration for Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe.
