Ok, I’m getting a bit of a late start on this, but I just discovered a very popular online group called The New Author Challenge 2009. The challenge runs from January 1 to December 31, 2009, so I’ve got some reading to do!

The premise is to pick a number of books by authors that are “new” to you, and join the challenge. Submit the number of books you plan to read by the end of the year to the group, and after you read each book, you post a review about it on the blog or on your own blog.

While some seasoned readers have the goal of 50 books, I’m going to ease into my first challenge with twenty new authors, starting with Maxine Hong Kingston’s Tripmaster Monkey: His Fake Book.
