The company did not provide specifics on where the new factory might be built, but recent speculation on the internet seems to indicate Austin, Texas.
Book Review : Breach the Wall by Michael Tracey and Celestina Adams
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009Michael Tracey and Celestina Adams’ latest book is a masterpiece of photography and prose, soulfully documenting the lives and stories of people who live in the shadows of famous walls throughout the world. Visiting such sites as The Great Wall of China, the Berlin Wall, and Hadrian’s Wall, they have captured the raw beauty and [...]
Where The Wild Things Are–The Movie
Thursday, March 26th, 2009Yes, it’s true. Maurice Sendak‘s beloved children’s classic, Where the Wild Things Are, has been adapted for the silver screen and is directed by Spike Jonze. Jones and Dave Eggers of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius fame, wrote the screenplay together. The best thing about the film? The “wild things” appear to be live-action, [...]
Books & Booze–profitable business, or pending hangover?
Friday, March 13th, 2009Asheville’s latest addition to the bookstore scene is Battery Park Book Exchange, and offers a wide range of books in a great downtown setting. They operate two floors of books, shelved around rooms decorated with couches, Oriental rugs, quality lamps–and a champagne bar? I almost couldn’t believe it. I’ve never seen a bookstore that offers [...]
Graphic Books Finally Join NY Times’ “Bestseller” Lists
Friday, March 13th, 2009As an avid comic fan, I was pleased to see the announcement of graphic novels to the New York Times Bestseller list this morning. They’ve compiled the lists into three categories: hardcover, softcover and Manga. Catch the lists and then check out available copies of Watchmen by Alan Moore–which stands at #3 in hardcover and [...]
What does Biblio.com do with all the money it makes?
Thursday, February 26th, 2009Couldn’t resist the eye-grabbing headline. At risk of disappointing the reader, I have to confess that we’re really not talking that much money. While we’re profitable (even despite the economy) I’m afraid our bottom line would look like a rounding error to many big companies. (At least its a black rounding error, though) Its surprising [...]
New Author Challenge 2009
Thursday, February 19th, 2009Ok, I’m getting a bit of a late start on this, but I just discovered a very popular online group called The New Author Challenge 2009. The challenge runs from January 1 to December 31, 2009, so I’ve got some reading to do! The premise is to pick a number of books by authors that [...]
Book Zeitgeist
Friday, February 13th, 2009Its always fun to speculate on how an alien culture would interpret our society, with our McDonald’s arches and reality TV shows. So our search engine isn’t quite alien technology, but we thought we’d ask it what it thinks of society in 2009, by looking at the most trafficked product pages so far this year [...]

Vampires, Late Night Coffee and Poor Forks, Washington: A Lament
Thursday, November 20th, 2008On my way in to the office this morning, NPR had a piece on the upcoming movie based on Stephenie Meyers’ Twilight and its effects on an unfortunate small town in Washington. It seems Forks has been transformed from a bucolic near-paradise deep in the beauty of the northwest into a shrine for a swarm [...]
